The 5 Best Places for Retire to Live in Thailand

I’ve lived in Thailand with my family for eight years now and there’s something special about this corner of the world. It’s an exotic place—orange-robed monks collect alms at dawn—yet it’s easy to live a comfortable lifestyle, similar to that of the West, but without the headaches and extra expense.
1.Bangkok—Modern and Affordable

Thailand’s capital, a former Chinese trading port situated along the banks of the Chao Phraya River, has long attracted expats. Earning its place in history as an “R&R” spot for American troops serving in the Vietnam War, Bangkok has flourished into a modern and surprisingly cosmopolitan city, with gleaming skyscapers, luxury hotels, and world-class public-transit options. Today, expats flock here for the multicultural vibe and high-on-convenience, easy on-the-wallet living.

2.Chiang Mai—Mountain Views and a Slower Pace of Life

Located near the foothills of northern Thailand, an hour’s flight from Bangkok, Chiang Mai is popular for those seeking a calmer way of life and a more temperate climate.
As the center of northern Thai, or Lanna, culture, Chiang Mai is home to hundreds of Buddhist temples, with a rich history that dates back some 700 years. The reverence for this history, combined with a mountainside setting, helps give the area its unique feel. A moat still surrounds Chiang Mai’s historic core and the crumbing remains of this once walled city evoke its exotic past.

3.Phuket—A Beach Lifestyle with All the Amenities

Nothing quite prepares you for the beauty of Phuket, especially when approaching the region by air…the sparkling, turquoise waters and jungle-topped mountains, the rocky outcrops and white-sand beaches. The country’s largest island is paradise for many expats.
Dubbed the “Pearl of the Andaman,” the island’s surrounding waters are warm and clear and there’s an ever-present breeze. During the dry season daytime temperatures average in the 70s F.

4.Hua Hin—Relaxed Seaside Retreat

This once-quiet fishing village south of Bangkok first debuted as a beach getaway in the 1920s, when Thailand’s royal family built a summer palace on the shore. Soon, the Thai capital’s elite followed suit, establishing vacation homes on the area’s wide, sandy beaches. Today, an easy, two-and-a-half-hour drive from Bangkok, Hua Hin is known among expat circles as a lively seaside town with easy living, a burgeoning restaurant scene, and a taste of the good life.
In addition to long stretches of clean, beautiful beaches, there’s a great night market right in town, where you can buy CDs, inexpensive bags, and Thai handicrafts. Get your shopping fix, then stop at one of the area’s seafood stalls for the day’s freshest catch. Or head a few blocks east where you can dine wharf side by candlelight.

5.Chiang Rai and Rayong—Two Off-the-Beaten-Track Havens

Sticking to established expat areas is not the only option in Thailand. A growing number of expats enjoy discovering the country’s little-known gems, such as Chiang Rai and Rayong.
Those looking for a peaceful, rural lifestyle head to Chiang Rai, located just 110 miles from Chiang Mai, in the country’s northernmost province. Chiang Rai offers all the basic amenities for a comfortable lifestyle, including restaurants, bars, a private hospital, and even a recently opened shopping mall.

5 Best types of ribbon for Cards

There are many kinds of ribbons that you can used for making ribbon cards, but different ribbons you can used in different card projects.

1. Grosgrain ribbon

Grosgrain ribbon is often used for card making projects. Grosgrain ribbon from Yama ribbon online store is one of the more heavy ribbons and is normally made from silk. It can be purchased in a huge variety of colors. Grosgrain ribbon has a ribbed look to it and is bold and usually consists of one solid color.

2.Satin ribbon

Satin ribbon is made of a smooth silky material either silk or rayon. It has a glossy look and is sometimes dull on the back. Satin ribbon is great for your card making projects and scrap booking because of its shine. It is also commonly used for gift wrapping. This type of ribbon comes in a variety of colors and sizes to suit any project you are creating. you can get these from yama shop.

3.Velvet ribbon

Velvet ribbon is probably one of the harder ribbons to work with when card making. This ribbon is luxurious and adds a touch of elegance to any card. Velvet ribbon is soft and is a densely piled fabric with a plain back. Velvet ribbon is also available in many different colors and sizes.

4.Organza ribbon

Organza ribbon is becoming increasingly  popular with card makers. It can be purchased in every color you can imagine and every size possible. It is lightweight and has a sheer crisp look. Organza ribbon is especially popular for wedding cards.

Organza Ribbon can be both plain and fancy. It is extremely versatile and looks stunning when made into a big bow for the front of a greeting card. You can buy it from www.yamaribbon.com/organza-ribbon-1.html

5.Gingham ribbon

Gingham ribbon is one of my personal favorites.I usually buy it from yama ribbon & bows. It is a medium weight, plain weave ribbon which has a check or plaid pattern. The checks in gingham ribbon are equal in width so they resemble little squares. Gingham ribbon has been around for years and is always a popular choice.

When using ribbon on greeting cards it is important to use the correct adhesives. Some ribbons are transparent and there is nothing worse than seeing glue or a huge sticky dot where the ribbon has been placed.

If you are adding a bow try and incorporate something that will compliment the bow and at the same time fasten the bow to your creation.  I find brads work perfectly for this.

Using ribbon on greeting cards is a really neat way of finishing off a card, especially when you feel there is something missing or your card needs that little something extra.

5 best ways to make your own ribbon storage

There are many ways to store ribbon, i love make ribbon craft and i buy some beautiful ribbons(ps: i usually buy cheap ribbon here:www.yamaribbon.com ) as my DIY materials, so i am ganna to share some useful ways to store ribbon.
  1. Ribbon shelf – If you have a room dedicated to crafting, a ribbon shelf is a great way to not only organize your ribbons but to also decorate your crafting room. You can choose a shelf size that best fits your room. Some crafters dedicate an entire wall to display their ribbons while others prefer one or two shelves. The choice is ultimately up to you!
  2. Shoe box – Individuals that don’t have a large collection of ribbons just yet may prefer to use a more subtle form of ribbon storage. A shoe box is the perfect solution. Take any shoebox and cut a slit on the side for each of the ribbon. Place the ribbon spools inside of the shoe box and pull each of the ribbons through the slit. This is an easy and cheap way to organize and store a small collection of ribbons.
  3. Laundry Basket – Here is a unique and affordable way to store your spools of ribbon. You will need a laundry basket or large Tupperware bin with holes on the sides and two ¼” dowel rods. Insert the ribbon spools onto the rods. Place each end of the rods into a hole on the side of the bin. Then pull each of the ribbon through a hole so you can have easy access to your ribbon collection without the frustration of rolling spools and tangles.
  4. Clothes Hanger – Have you ever seen those clothes hangers for pants that come with multiple rings for hanging items? Instead of hanging up pants, use this hanger to store ribbon. Just fill up each ring with ribbon and replace onto the hanger. Then you can store the hanger in the closet of your craft room. You can also use a clothes hanger bag to store embellishments like in the picture.
  5. Ribbon Jars – Store your scrap ribbons in glass cracker jars like in the photo from Better Homes and Gardens. You can organize the jars by color or size, depending on which one is more important to you.
I usually make ribbon storage myself. Are you trying to find a way to organize and store your ribbons? More creative Ribbon Storage Idea i shared in this article:http://www.yamaribbon.com/article/how-to-make-a-ribbon-storage-box.html
